2010 TeenSpeak Pro-Life T-Shirt Contest Winner

TeenSpeak 2010, part of the SpeakOut Illinois conference, proved very successful this year. Generations for Life, the youth outreach of the Pro-life Action League, organized TeenSpeak 2010. 130 participants were able to hear inspiring and motivating speakers such as Live Action’s Lila Rose as well as John-Paul Deddens and Alicia Torres from the Students for Life of Illinois. Matt Yonke, Assistant Communications Director for the Pro-Life Action League, presented “The Anatomy of a Pro-Life T-Shirt” which led into the Pro-Life T-shirt Workshop. Attendees were divided into groups. Each group was given a t-shirt, fabric markers, and 45 minutes to create their own pro-life T-shirt. The teams were told that the winning design would be professionally printed and sold on our site. One of the teens from the winning team has experience with graphic design and was actually able to turn their rough sketch of a design into professional t-shirt artwork. The original design also included the following Bible quote on the back of the shirt: “No eye has seen . . . what God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9. A t-shirt design contest is an inspiring experience as you watch teenagers put their thoughts into words and drawings. It also takes courage to wear a pro-life t-shirt as they tend to be conversation starters leading to an opportunity to educate others about being pro-life.
